Tanika™ Lomandra longifolia

Description: Tanika Lomandra has proven to be one of the toughest, most reliable landscape plants over the last couple of years. An evergreen, improved compact fine leaf form, this low maintenance plant is perfect for landscape professionals and gardeners alike. The Tanika plant produces small yellow flowers in spring, and is also soft to touch so kids will enjoy this plant as well.

Size: Approx. 70-90cm high x 70-90cm wide.

Planting Density: 2-4 plants per m², 1-3 plants per linear metre.

Uses: Ideal for borders, specimen planting and mass planting.

Position: Full sun to moderate shade. Tolerates frost and drought. Suits sandy, sandy loam to clay soils. Avoid wet feet.

Care: Water as required for 8-13 weeks until established. Plant in a well mulched garden (chunky mulch is recommended). Ensure crown or base of plant is not below soil or mulch level. If required use slow release fertiliser in spring. Every 3-10 years cut back 15cm above the ground if required (will look better with pruning every 3 years, this depends on your requirements).

Lomandra as a genus has undergone a lot of name changes over the years, both by herbariums, and later by the industry. In Victoria fine leaf Lomandra that have longifolia characteristics such as these are always listed under the synonym name Lomandra longifolia subsp. exilis. In the past Lomandra fluviatilis has been called Lomandra longifolia subsp. fluviatilis or Xerotes longifolia var. fluviatilis.
